The following divisions have been approved by the FHSS board for 2020.  FHSS shows can offer any combination of these divisions.

 If an FHSS show offers divisions that are not on this list, points for those divisions will not count toward  FHSS year end awards.  

All or some of these divisions will be available at Freedom Horse Show Series shows.  Please check each prize list.  

~ EQUITATION DIVISIONS ~ Judged on the rider's hands, seat, and control of mount

LEADLINE:  Open to children seven (7) years of age or under.

Classes Offered:  Walk, Walk-Trot on lead, Walk off lead.  

Cross Entry: No cross entry

WALK-TROT DIVISION:  Riders ten (10) years of age or under who are not yet comfortable

cantering in a group and who have not shown at the canter in any previous horse show.  

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot Equitation, Walk-Trot Pleasure,  and Walk-Trot  Hunter. 

Cross Entry: May cross enter  into any Walk-Trot class.

 

​​​​PRE SHORT/MINI STIRRUP DIVISION: Riders nine (9) years of age or under.

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter,  and to jump 2 crossrails.                    

Cross Entry:  Short Stirrup Equitation

​​​​​​SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION: Riders eleven (11) years of age or under. 

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and to jump 4 or 8 crossrails.

Cross Entry: Short Stirrup Hunter, Pleasure Pony, Junior Beginner Rider

 

LONG STIRRUP EQUITATION: Adult Amateur Riders who are Novice Riders.

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and to jump 4 or 8 crossrails.

Cross Entry: Novice Eq, FHSS Low Adult Eq

 

JUNIOR BEGINNER RIDER EQUITATION:  Open to any  Junior rider in their 1st or 2nd year of showing.      

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and to jump 4 or 8 crossrails.

Cross Entry: Novice Equitation, Short Stirrup Eq               

 

NOVICE EQUITATION:  Open to riders of any age who have not jumped over 2'.  

​Classes Offered: Walk-trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and to jump 2'. 

Cross Entry:  Junior Beginner Rider,  FHSS  Low Adult Equitation, Modified Hunter

JUNIOR EQUITATION:   Open to Junior riders only, on horses or ponies.  May be split into 13 & Under and 14-17.                

Fences: Ponies 2'; Horses 2'6'

​Classes Offered:  Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and Over Fences

Cross Entry: Any Junior division where the fences do not exceed 2' for ponies and 2'6" for horses


FHSS LOW ADULT EQUITATION:  Open to Adult Amateur riders on horses or ponies. 

Fences: 2'

Classes Offered:  Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and Over Fences

Cross Entry:  Pleasure, Modified, Novice Eq

 

***FHSS will not recognize ADULT EQUITATION for 2020***

 

​​~PLEASURE DIVISIONS~ Horses/Ponies are shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring and over fences.

                                     Light contact is required. Horses/Ponies should be obedient, alert, responsive and move freely.

 

PLEASURE PONY -  Open to Junior riders on ponies.

Fences: 2'

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter,  and  Over Fences

Cross Entry: Any pony division where the fences do not exceed 2'
 

PLEASURE HORSE - Open to all riders on horses.

Fences: 2'6"

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter. and Over Fences

Cross Entry: Any horse division where the fences do not exceed 2'6"

 

~HUNTER DIVISIONS~All classes to be judged on performance and soundness and when indicated,

 

                                          conformation, suitability and manners. 

 

PONY MODEL:   To be shown in hand and moved at the judge's discretion.  

Class may be combined into Low Children's Pony and Children's Pony Model,

and pinned together, but half points should be awarded in each specific division.

 

SHORT STIRRUP HUNTER: Riders eleven (11) years of age or under.

Fences: xrails-18" verticals

Classes Offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class

Cross Entry: Junior Beginner Eq, Short Stirrup Eq,  Pleasure

 

LOW CHILDREN'S PONY HUNTER: Open to Junior riders on ponies.

Fences: 2'

Classes offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class. 

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 2' or lower.

                       May not cross enter into the regular section.


​​CHILDREN'S PONY HUNTER: Open to Junior riders on ponies. 

Fences: S/M 2'; L 2'3"

Classes offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class.

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 2' or lower for the S/M ponies,  or 2'3" or lower

                        for the large ponies. May not cross enter into the Low section

LOW CHILDREN"S HUNTER HORSE: Open to Junior riders on horses. 

Fences: 2'6"

Classes Offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class.

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 2'6" or lower.

                         May not cross enter into the regular section.

CHILDREN'S HUNTER HORSE: Open to Junior riders on horses.

Fences: 3'

Classes Offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class.

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 3' or lower.

                        May not cross enter into the Low section.

 ADULT HUNTER: Open to Adult Amateur riders.

Fences: 2'6" (Low) or 3' (High)

Classes Offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class.

Cross Entry: Any division for which the rider is eligible

 

 

 

                      DEVELOPING HUNTER:  Open to horses and ponies in their first year of showing

                                                                   regardless of age. Trotting on course not to be penalized.

Fences: Crossrails

​Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and one or two classes over fences

Cross Entry: Baby Green if the horse/pony meets the age requirement and are in their

                        FIRST year of showing, Modified Hunter, Thoroughbred Hunter if eligible.
 

​​​MODIFIED HUNTER: Open to horses or ponies of any age, all riders. Open to horses and ponies.

Fences: 2'

Classes offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class. 

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 2' or lower

 

BABY GREEN HUNTER: Open to Horses or Ponies under age 7 in their 1st or 2nd year of showing.

                                                Open to any rider.  Adults may ride ponies. Trotting in corners not to be penalized.

Fences: Ponies - 2', Horses - 2'3"

Classes Offered: Walk-Trot, Walk-Trot-Canter, and one or two classes over fences.

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 2' or lower for the ponies, or 2'3" or lower for

                        the horses for which they are eligible.

​​THOROUGHBRED HUNTER: Open to any Thoroughbred, any rider.

Fences: 2'3"

Classes offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class.

Cross Entry: Any division for which the horse or rider is eligible.

LOW HUNTER: Open to horses of any age, all riders.

Fences: 2'6"

Classes offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class.

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 2' 6" or lower for horses.

OPEN HUNTER: Open to horses or ponies of any age, all riders.

Fences: 3'

Classes offered: Two classes over fences and an under saddle class.

Cross Entry: Any division where the fences are 3' or lower for horses.

 

~JUMPER DIVISIONS~All classes open to horses or ponies, all riders except where noted.

                                        Ties for Champion or Reserve Champion will remain tied

ITTY BITTY JUMPERS: Open to horses or ponies, any rider. To jump up to 0.70  (2'3")

 

PUDDLE JUMPERS: Open to horses or ponies, any rider. To jump up to 0.80 (2'6")

(Puddle Jumpers are not recognized by the Colonial Classic)

                       

PRELIMINARY JUMPERS: Open to horses or ponies, any rider. To jump up to 0.85 (2'9")

 

THOROUGHBRED JUMPERS:  Open to thoroughbreds, any rider. To jump up to 0.85 (2'9")

 

LOW CHILDREN"S/ADULT JUMPERS: Open to horses or ponies, Junior or Adult Amateur riders.  

May be opened for professional riders but must be pinned separately. To jump up to 0.90 (3')

CHILDREN'S/ADULT JUMPERS: Open to horses or ponies, Junior or Adult Amateur riders. 

May be opened for professional riders but must be pinned separately. To jump up to 1.00 (3'3")

OPEN JUMPERS: Open to any horse/rider.  To jump up to 1.15 (3'9")

LOW MINI PRIX SERIES: Open to Junior and Adult Amateur riders, and Professionals whose horses

                                              have not competed over 3'.  The first round to be set at 0.80-0.85m ,

                                               with the jump off set at 0.85m. (or as set by the management)

 

Jumper divisions may consist of  any of the  following classes:

Table II sec 1 - Time First Round
Table II sec 2A - Time First Jump Off.  All clean rounds to jump off after all first rounds are completed.

Table II sec 2B - Time First Jump Off.  All clean rounds stay in the ring and jump off  immediately.                   

Table II sec 2C - Power & Speed.
Table III - Faults Converted into seconds

Table IV sec 1 - Optimum Time.
